Winter's Bone....Movie review

17 year old Ree Dolly (Jennifer Lawrence) struggles with losing the family home and having to provide for her mentally ill mother and two younger siblings when her father apparently skips bail and is nowhere to be found. Jennifer Lawrence gives a candid tough as nails performance that has you rooting for her character from the start. Believing Jessop Dolly dead and left with no kin except her uncle Teardrop (John Hawkes) she does her best to unravel the mystery surrounding his disappearance. John Hawkes is both chilling and believable as a man who could snap at any time. Ree tells him "I was always afraid of you" and he says "that's cause you're a smart girl". This film is gritty and unapologetic. I hadn't heard of this movie prior to its Oscar nomination for Best Picture. I can say although it didn't win, it deserved the nomination. The cinematography was outstanding and the characters were frighteningly authentic. So on the Heart Chart...

Chloe movie review

Amanda Seyfried is stunning and very convincing as she weaves an intricate web to ensnare the object of her desire. This movie hits all the right marks. Julianne Moore delivers a stand out performance as the wife of a professor in a marriage that seems to have lost it's luster. We feel her heartache and frustration as she attempts to confirm her suspicions that her husband is having an affair. Liam Neeson is very believable as a middle aged man lamenting his bygone youth. Every character in this movie is relatable and it succeeds in driving home the point that a similar sequence of events could happen to anyone under the right circumstances. The ending is passionate, climactic and perfect. Of course I am not going to spoil it for you here. A definite lesbian must see. So on the Heart Chart Chloe gets 5 out of 5 hearts. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The Karate Kid movie review

As far as remakes go I think this movie delivers. Jackie Chan does a good job of showing us his serious side, and Jadan Smith gives a standout performance filled with personality. You can definitely tell that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. The film had a lot of nice visuals and I loved the take on the mind play versus the swan kick from the first movie. Overall well acted, and leaves the movie-goer with a feel good feeling at the end. On the Heart Chart this movie gets 4 out of 5 Hearts.
